GINGHAM | STYLING THE TREND

Today's post is dedicated to a trend that I've been loving recently. I fear it's set to replace my stripe obsession (I can't work out if that's a good or a bad thing!) Anyway, I thought I'd style up three gingham pieces into outfits today. I hope you like this kind of post, all items are linked if you're interested. Let me know if there are any other trends you'd like to see a post dedicated to in the comments.

For the first outfit I thought I'd keep it pretty simple and casual, integrating the gingham in a subtle way with a simple, summer appropriate, outfit.

T-shirt - ASOS
A white T-shirt is great for the summer, and a bold graphics adds a more casual vibe. I love this one from Levi's.

Shorts - ASOS
A pair of denim shorts are essential for a summer wardrobe. I did purchase this pair and can vouch for the fact they're super comfy, high waisted and a nice 'my bum is covered but they're not too long' kinda length.
I haven't owned a pair of denim shorts in years but have a feeling I might grab a pair of these in a different shade too.

Bag - Zara
Bucket bags are great for adding a boho feel to an outfit. They're also super cute and perfect if you don't have a huge amount to carry. The price of this one from Zara is amazing too!

Shoes - Newlook
The main article, this pop of gingham will bring you on the trend in a subtle way without having to change your wardrobe around. A simple sandal is grey to throw on with so many different outfits too.

A slightly more 'out there' gingham piece up next. And yup, those culottes made their way into my ASOS basket. This monochrome outfit could be styled up with a pair of heels but I plan to wear it with a pair of Vans for a casual everyday outfit.

A combination of two of my favourite trends, gingham and culottes. Culottes are so flattering on different figures and are a great alternative to trousers of dresses.

Another boho inspired piece. I picked this cute crochet top as it's slightly cropped so would sit above the waist of the culottes and also I love the mixture of pattern and texture. This adds a bit more interest to the black and white outfit.

I've worn my black Old Skools to death since getting them last year and I intend to wear them until they fall apart. Not the comfiest for walking long distances but they add a cool grungy vibe to any outfit.

I opted for this Whistles chain bag for this outfit to keep the smart elements of the outfit. I love mixing trainers with a smart outfit and I think this bag ties it all together really nicely.

Finally, this Zara dress caught my eye the other day and although I've accepted the fact it wouldn't suit my figure, I still wanted to style it up with an outfit.

DRESS - Zara
The dress is very 'primary-school-summer-dress' but I can't help but love it. I haven't seen many other gingham pieces in this colour (it's also available in red too). I love the tiered design and the floaty sleeves.

JACKET - ASOS
I think the previous two outfits are quite summery for an British summer so I thought I'd create an outfit perfect for a cool summer day/evening. The suede texture makes it a little more subtle and it matches the boots really nicely too.

BOOTS - Newlook
Again, not really summery but I pictured this dress with a pair of boots. I love toughening up girly dresses with a biker jacket and boots. I feel that these boots are a bit more season appropriate with the wooden block heel and I love the contrast of the heel with the suede texture of the boot.

RAYBANS
A must for the summer, again these glasses really toughen up this floaty summer dress and these sunglasses (in my opinion) never go out of style. LOVE LOVE LOVE my pair.
So, there's my first post in what I hope will be a regular series on my blog from now on. Whether I intend to or not I end up seeing trend pieces slip into my wardrobe so it's fun to look around online at the pieces available. I hope you liked this post, leave a comment of any trend suggestions that I could do this post on soon.
