A Long Weekend in Norfolk

A couple of weeks ago, I headed to our little cottage in Norfolk for a long weekend of relaxation and beach adventures. After my old car failed on me before the previous trip (meaning I couldn't go) I was so excited to spend a few days by the sea, it really is the best medicine. We always try to make the most of our time in Norfolk, while still enjoying the calm quiet setting of our own little cottage. Here's what we got up to!

We arrived in Norfolk just after midday and headed straight through the town to Tesco to pick up some nibbles (its a five minute walk away). We also picked up food for a fry up for Saturday morning.

We spent a bit of time unpacking our bags and settling in and then put the dogs in the car and headed to Holkham beach. Max especially loved running through the water and ended up filthy. We had to wash the dogs off when we got home and then got a chinese takeaway for tea.

After a little bit of a lay in we prepared our mini fry up breakfast and tucked in to fuel us for what ended up being a super fun morning and afternoon. First things first, we took the dogs out for a walk along the river.
North Norfolk Food Festival at Holkham Hall. The grounds were amazing and the sun was shining all day. (So much so, that my sister ended up with slightly sunburnt shoulders..) There were so many stalls, but it was pretty busy. We opted for the stone baked pizza stall for our lunch, and a gooey chocolate brownie for afters!
We arrived home and, of course, had a few minutes to catch our breath. Then we all jumped in the car and went off to Brancaster beach for an evening dog walk. We really can't go a day in Norfolk without visiting at least one beach!

On Sunday we decided to head to Wells-next-the-sea. One of the most popular beaches in Norfolk! It's quite a walk away from most car parking so we decided to walk the dogs through Fakenham town and then leave them at home for our morning at Wells. The weather was GLORIOUS for the start of September, and I'm sure the people competing/taking part in the triathlon were also grateful for the fantastic weather. We spent half an hour spectating the swimming section of the triathlon and then walked up to the beach huts. Before we stepped onto the sand we picked up a couple of tubs of mint choc-chip ice cream.
As you can see, people really took advantage of the last weekend of the summer holidays, there were hundreds of people on the beach. My sister and I tried to pick up as much micro plastic and general rubbish as possible as part of the #takethreeforthesea movement, please remember to always take your rubbish with you to keep our beautiful beaches clean!

We decided against walking back to the car that was in the centre of town, so got on the little train that runs alongside the walkway. I think it was £1.50 each, definitely worth it when the sun's beaming down and your legs are a little tired! Before heading back to the cottage we grabbed *another* icecream, this time a chocolate cone.

Monday was going home day :(. We took the dogs for a walk around the river first thing and then went to Thornham Deli for some brunch. I chose the maple syrup pancake which was a thick large pancake, I didn't manage to finish the whole thing! We drove back to the cottage, but not before exploring another beach first (this time from the car). Arriving back to the cottage, we packed up the car with our bags and the dogs and began the 2 hour journey home. I'm already looking forward to the next time we can get to the cottage!

Sunday, 9 September 2018

On the 18th of August I turned 22! I was supposed to head to Norfolk for the weekend, but my car decided to breakdown so I had to pass on the long weekend by the sea :(. However, Alex Monroe announced a special event at their INSERT STORE NAME store, and it turned out to be on the 18th! So my sisters and I hopped on the train to London to pop to the store and also have a day of exploring in London.

I went for a super comfy outfit and trainers as I knew we'd be on our feet all day.
Sunglasses - RayBan
Cropped Mustard Tee - Primark
Paperbag Waist Culottes - H&M
Polka Dot Trainers - Adidas

So of course, the Alex Monroe store was the first on my list. It's a tiny little boutique, designed perfectly with a workshop above! It's so beautiful inside, with so many gorgeous pieces on show!
One thing I ADORE about London is how you can stumble upon so many gems. This abstract piece appeared after we'd crossed London Bridge on our way to Oxford Street. How amazing is this! I'm gutted that I've not been able to find the artist.
Speaking of artists; we had to take a trip to the fabulous 'We Built This City' on Carnaby Street. It's full of prints, souvenirs and so much more, all by artists from London and the UK. It's hard to leave without feeling so inspired to make cool shit and dream of showcasing your own work in such an exciting store.
Some of these artists get the opportunity to promote their work by painting the entire shop front, which changes every several weeks.

On our way to We Built This City we hopped into Joe & the Juice for a much needed drink and a sit down. The sports juice was so refreshing, just what we needed to revitalise us for the next few hours.
And for food, we opted to find some dinner at St Pancras Intl. Prime Burger did not disappoint! Such a cute little restaurant with incredible fries and juicy burgers (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.)
I'll end this post with this super cool neon quote sign that we saw at the train station before we made our way home. It's funny that we didn't see it in the morning, I guess we just didn't appreciate it's beauty on the way into the city!

Sunday Summary 9

Blogposts have been few and far between over the last couple of months, even my weekly 'Sunday Summary' fell by the wayside. So in an attempt to keep an account of what I've been up to over the last couple of months, here's a Sunday Summary or July and August.

1. Some very tasty freak shakes for a photoshoot at work at the beginning of July.

2. A little bit of hand embroidery for a work related project too!

3. Doing the odd bit of Shani Coles Designs work.

4. I started to do a little bit of hand embroidery on T-shirts as a potential product for Shani Coles Designs.

5. More tasty bakes at work! I need to start working out ha.

6. Some more hand embroidery, it's so relaxing!

7. A 'Sunday Summary' wouldn't be complete without at least one cute dog photo, we played dog buckaroo with max and some teddies.

8. It was my early work birthday, we had pizza, scotch eggs and sausage rolls.

9. Finally, a card for one of my colleagues birthdays!

I'm really enjoying creating little bits and bobs when I feel like it, rather than putting so much pressure on making new products to try and sell all the time. So there's a general summary of the last couple of months. As I start feeling a little more myself I'm hoping I can start doing these posts weekly again!

Thursday, 16 August 2018

I've noticed a change in me recently, and it's not one that I'm happy with. I sat with my Mum and sister a couple of nights ago (after my car broke for the second time AND ruined my plans for a birthday weekend in Norfolk:(). I opened up about everything that's been on my mind and just how I've been feeling as of late. It's sparked my want and need to make some changes to turn me back into my usual happy, chirpy self.

1. Stop putting so much pressure on myself
A huge goal of mine is to have my own creative business full-time. I;m nowhere near there yet, but I'm always trying to do a little bit each week to get there. But it's grating on me because I feel tired all the time, and my ideas don't work out how I want them to a lot of the time either.
I have to remember that I don't need to put so much pressure on it. I do believe that it will happen at the right time for me. I'm currently in a position where I'm earning enough money to pay my bills (and buy nice things once in a while), so I don't NEED this extra money, even though it would be nice.

2. Create because I love it
My blog has suffered due to my lack of energy and desire to do just about anything. So I;m hoping to direct my creativity back into this. I've been writing on a blog for 6 years, which shows to me that it's something I love doing. Instead of putting so much pressure and energy on my shop, I need to take a step back from that and just spend some time writing and taking photos for my blog instead. The love of designing things for my shop will come back when it's the right time for me.

3. Eat less and move more.
Since getting into my current mindset, I've been eating EVERYTHING. I never feel full, so I just eat and eat and eat. Working at the biscuit bakery means that there are sweet treats pretty much on tap. So it's been even worse at work compare to at home. I'm noticing weight gain, mainly by the way some of my clothes are fitting me. I'm really not happy about it, so i'm hoping to join a gym when I'm feeling a bit better in myself. It'll be good for the endorphins, but also for how I feel about my body.

4. Do more at the weekends
I've turned down a couple of fun get togethers with friends over the last few weeks, just through feeling like I don't have enough energy to be around loads of people. I've always found that kind of environment quite exhausting.
But it's meaning I'm sitting in the house every evening and weekend, this in turn means I'm not going out, which means I'm not wearing outfits that I love and also not shooting anything to put up on mere too. I need to start planning weekend activities so that I'm not only leaving the house for work (and food shopping).

So yeah, there's a huge brain vomit for you... There's a lot on my mind, it's meaning I'm sleeping for 8+ hours and night, sometimes sleeping through my alarms and being late for work which isn't the best.

To summarise;
I'm stepping back from my little shop for now. Apart from potentially ordering and playing with a new little gadget. I just need to ride the wave, create when I feel inspired and hopefully I can pick it up again nearer Christmas time.

Do more fun things outside of work. I get twi WHOLE days off but end up doing nothing with it. So I'm planning to put on a nice outfit, go somewhere photo worthy, get fresh air and snap some photos for my blog.

Moving more and eating less in pretty self explanatory. I need to find a gym or start running (something I have wanted to do for years).

It's hard to figure out which of these things are the signs and which are the symptoms of how I'm feeling. They might all be factors of my current state of mind. I think each are contributing to my current mood, and although none of them are huge problems in the grand scheme of things, the fact it's all come at once makes it feel like I've hit a brick wall.

I'm glad to get all of this off my chest, it'll be a constant reminder of how I plan to get through this little bump in the road. Back to regular proceedings soon :)

Sunday, 1 July 2018

As usual, it's been a while! But it's been longer than it usually is when I say that! So, I just thought I'd sit down and write down how I'm feeling at the moment. Maybe it will motivate me to do more, maybe it'll just clear a bit of space in my brain! Let's see.

Something that has affected me a huge amount in the last month is the unfortunate passing of my next door neighbour, who was only a couple of years older than me. My family grew up next door to him and his lovely family, but tragically he suffered with mental illness and it took his life in May. At first it didn't seem real and on my drive to work the next day it pretty much hit me like a tonne of bricks. Thinking about his wonderful family and how they will have to move forward, his daughter and her future. I got to work and cried my eyes out, suicide is something that I'm so aware of but until it happens to someone you know it doesn't seem real.

This event has triggered something in me. I didn't post blogposts because I had no passion for the ideas I was coming up with and it all felt so ridiculous in the grand scheme of things. I had no motivation or oomf to just crack on and make what I want to make. I guess I just needed some time to reevaluate everything. I want to be proud of what I put out into the world, even if only one person stumbles across it.

We had his funeral last week, I knew instantly that I wanted to go to say my final goodbye to him, and to be there to support his family at their time of need. It warmed my heart see so many people who's lives he had touch, come and show their love and support. I really hope he could see it too!

On another note, I've been thinking about the future a lot. Wondering where I see my life heading. I've got such a lovely job with a great team of people around me, but I know I want to carry on with my own online shop too and do this in the evenings and at the weekends. It's been difficult to feel inspired, and I rarely feel like my ideas will materialise into something as great as I'd hoped they could be. It's just difficult when you work 40 hours a week because I'm pooped when I get home and the weekends fly in the blink of an eye :(

Aside from this, I've also been thinking about where I'd like to be in a few years time and I think I vaguely know where that place is. Maybe I'll have a house of my own, a dog, and hopefully I'll be working full time for myself at that point too. There are so many things that I want to achieve, and ideas I want to bring to life.

I just hope that I keep pushing myself to work harder for a little longer, it'll all pay off in the end.

Saturday, 26 May 2018

My favourite seasons to dress for are without a doubt Spring and Autumn. So, I take full advantage of the weather that allows some jeans and a lightweight top. Here's a perfect example of a typical outfit you'll catch me in at the moment.

14th May - 20th May

So, starting with the week just gone, I don't really have a HUGE amount to report.

Sunday Summary 7

30th April - 6th May

1. This week has been a bit crazy and busy for me. On Tuesday the 1st I did my last ever shift at H&M, and after 6 months I was moving on to a new adventure. So much has changed since I got the job at H&M and I've learnt so much about myself too. I met so many lovely people and a group of us went for food on Friday as a goodbye meal. (Although it's more like a 'see ya soon').

2. I officially started my new job on the 2nd May and already love it. I love the consistent hours (which will hopefully mean a bit of a blogging schedule/more consistency). The variety in my job makes me excited for every new day, not to mention the fact i get EVERY WEEKEND OFF! That's something that was few and far between at my last job due to the nature of the work. But, since my parents brought the little cottage in Norfolk I'm so glad that I found my new job when I did.

3. It was a bank holiday and my family, dogs and I spent the whole weekend there. We visited so many cute places and it's made me so excited to go and visit all through the Summer and into the Autumn/Winter months too. I drove there in my car and can definitely see myself popping there on my own/with friends when I need a little break from reality.

Sunday Summary 5

26th March - 15th April

It's been a little while since I did one of these. So here's a few things from the past three weeks.

1. My parents went to visit family in Ireland for a few days. All of the photos my Mum took made me wish I was there too! Hopefully I can pop over for a long weekend or something soon.

2. I invited my friend (and the person who took ALL my outfit photos last year and the year before!) Lori over for a brunch catch up while she was home from uni and it was so fab to catch up. We also shot my last outfit post while the sun popped out for a few minutes.

3. Easter sprung upon us so quickly, I ate chocolate and relaxed with family all day. I can't wait for Spring and Summer to get into full swing.

4. I'm attempting the 100 Day Creative Challenge. I'm using the hashtag #100daysofshanicolesdesigns and although I have missed a few days it's still really helping me get creative again.

5. Something nerve wracking/exciting happened over the last couple of weeks, however I need to wait a little longer to see if it will materialise. If you don't hear about it again then it's no happening hahaha but keep your fingers crossed for me.

6. One of my favourite things to do is pop to my local shopping complex with friends for a mooch around the shops and a nice dinner. It's rare that we get days off together, so when we do it's nice to make the most of it.

7. We got the exciting news we've been waiting for for a few weeks now. The Norfolk house is all ours! We've got a cute little cottage in Norfolk to go to at the weekends and also turn into a holiday home for people to rent out too. I can't wait to spend as much time as possible by the sea.

8. I did a little design on a kraft gift back and it's got me thinking about products I could do in the future for my little online shop.

9. And today I did a workout, tidied my room and refreshed my wardrobe, packing all my Winter coats and jumpers up until next Autumn! I also did a little try-on of some new clothes I've brought recently and Summer clothes I've had for the last couple of years. I said it already but I CANNOT WAIT FOR SUMMER.

A Spring Outfit

I'm SO excited for summer to come around. As you can tell from my previous fashion post (HERE), I've already planned a couple of outfits that I'll be wearing when the temperature finally stays at double figures. But for now, spring seems to have disappeared and been replaced by dull skies and on and off rain. *whyyyy* However, I did manage to get out and shoot a spring appropriate outfit while the sun was out the other day.

Summer Fashion Inspiration

I love Autumn and Winter fashion but, if I'm honest, I'm sick of the dull dark weather now. We had snow again last weekend?! I want sunshine and longer days so i can get more shit done. So, I raided my wardrobe and put together a couple of outfits ready for the Summer.

Sunday Summary 3

26th February - 12th March

So, the week beginning 26th February was officially my week off from work. In case you didn't know, I work part-time in retail and had holiday to take. Above are a few photos from that week.

1. On the first day of my holiday I went on got my hair done. I started the process of going blonde all over with two sessions of balayage last summer but didn't keep up with it (hence the super outgrown hair that I hadn't toned in months).
My plan is still to go as light as I can all over so that I can go a grey/blue shade but it's still going to take time. We went way higher with the balayage and shorter with my hair and I LOVE it. I can't wait to book in to go even lighter.

2. I took some time to get my creative juices flowing again. The Winter has felt sooo long and I'm excited to have more daylight hours to keep making and creating.

3. IT SNOWED lots. My drive to work isn't the fastest and I use country roads to get from my town to work so I was glad that it worked out to be my week off. If not I wouldn't have been able to get there anyway.

4. I wore my Doc Marten's (which I've worn a total of approx 2 times). I did enjoy wearing them but I wore tiny little socks so ended up with cuts on my foot. Serves me right tbh. ha

5. More new products ideas. I'm loving brush lettering so think this will be prominent in a lot of my new designs.

6. How cool are these jeans. I saw them on the Monki website and fell in love, couldn't get them out of my mind so just brought them to see what they looked like on. And I adore them, they're such a nice fit for my body and I'm looking forward to featuring them in an outfit post soon.

7. I keep visiting Poppy. She's so sweet with so much character, and she's got her own mini tangle teezer JUST LOOK AT HER.

8. A little commissioned card for a lovely customer for Mother's Day.

9. Just before Mother's Day my sister and I went to a new(ish) shopping complex near me and I brought so many cool pieces. We also brought my Mum a few lovely things for Mother's Day. We got an orchid, an Emma Bridgewater 'Mummy' mug and some new pyjamas.
After she unwrapped her gifts we visited both of my Great Nan's graves and popped a cute little windmill on each one. It was so lovely to see people visiting their loved ones too.

10. Finally, on Mother's Day evening my Nan and Grandad came round for a chinese takeaway and brought Poppy to meet my dogs for the first time. And Ben fell in love, he spent most of the evening trying to convince her to play with him (he didn't succeed :() Maybe next time ay?

Sunday Summary 2

Here's a little summary of last week. Not much happened really but one VERY exciting thing happened.

1. There's a new puppy in the family! Not in my crazy house though so she's not mine (sadly), but I've visited her everyday since she came home and she's the cutest craziest little pup.

2. I've booked in to get my hair done. I started getting my hair balayaged last year but didn't keep up with getting it done. I guess I was hoping for instant results and for my hair to be exactly like the photos I'd seen. But my hair's pretty dark so that obviously wasn't the case. I'd left it to grow out A LOT. I'm excited to have new hair again.

3. Finally this week, I've got a week off. I'm so excited to spend the next week working solely on my little shop (shanicolesdesigns) to come up with some new product ideas and designs. I'm planning on spending the whole week in my little garden studio/shed listening to music and putting more items on my website. I should also tidy my bedroom while I've got all the time in the world!

Sunday Summary 1

I'm back with another Sunday Summary! I do hope to post these weekly but this post summarises the last fortnight in 9 photos. Obviously I've got no photos of work, which has taken up most of this week, but I hope you enjoy seeing what I've been up to the rest of the time!

1. A new product idea for Shani Coles Designs. I went to a wool shop and picked some of my favourite colours so that I can start making weaved wall hangings.

2. An outfit that I wore on a family walk, I LOVE the jacket that I got from H&M. And it kept me pretty warm too.

3. This moody looking photo of a church was taken on the walk above. We just about managed to get into the pub before the heavens opened. Also, quick note to self, when Mum calls it a countryside 'walk' she actually means 'a hike uphill, through mud and so on...'

4. Last Sunday's outfit for work. The jumper says 'funday', I thought it was just perfect to brighten up people's Sunday before the working week begins again.

5. Last week I also popped out for food with Tasha. 'The Lounge' is a small chain and in a few of the towns around me. The burgers are amazing too, along with the quirky decor.

6. I can't help but snap dozens of photos of my dogs, so expect to see one in the majority of these posts.

7. On Valentine's Day I treated my younger sisters to a Bill's breakfast. In case you were wondering, we all ordered the Bill's Breakfast (no mushrooms or eggs for me) and a stack of pancakes to share. LUSHHHH

8. And finally onto today. We went to look at a couple of houses in Norfolk, and just had a general nose around the area. The sun was shining all day too!

9. Another photo from today, we visited to different beaches in Norfolk and it's confirmed that the sea is my favourite place to be. So calm, quiet and the sea air is so clear and refreshing. Hopefully I'll be able to the visit the seaside so much more this year.

January | Sunday Summary

Welcome to my new blog series. Albeit a little late for the first post, but that's me in a nutshell...
A popular post a few years ago was 'Sunday Summary'/ Lily Melrose's 'Sunday Portrait'. A post to sum up the week just gone. So, I thought I'd bring it back in 2018 in an attempt to record more/do more. I hope you enjoy it! I'm excited to sit down on a Sunday evening to write these posts so I hope you'll like them too.
Today, obviously isn't Sunday, and it's also not January however I just wanted to do a quick little recap of a few things that happened in January.

1. I found out at the start of the month that I was voted employee of the month for December! I am really enjoying my job and try to put my all into every shift, so to receive some acknowledgement for it (and a voucher to buy more clothes) was amazing.

2. In January I decided that I wanted a little change around in my room. I've started it by getting rid of my mirrored wardrobes, adding drawers to store most of my clothes & I also purchased a HUGE mirror from IKEA that I've already taken a fair few selfies in front of. I'm hoping to get it totally finished and furnished by mid March, so look out for a little room tour soon.

3. Due to working in retail, it can be hard to meet up with work friends out of work as we all work different hours. But I drove to a fairly new shopping complex in my county with two work friends and did some shopping and had a lush dinner too. I want to try and do this more often.

4. Just after the new year I met up with Lori, one of my bestest friends. I haven't had a proper catch up with her since she went off to Uni so we had so much to talk about. We went to Bill's for a breakfast/brunch and ordered way too much yummy food.

5. In the same trip Lori and I played around with my new phone and got some outfit photos. Although I didn't like how my face looked in most of them so they weren't actually posted over her. One or two did appear on my instagram though!

6. I had a big wardrobe clearout this month too. I've had enough of keeping clothes 'just in case'. They take up valuable storage space and end up unworn anyway. So I managed to get three bags full for recycling. More about that in a post soon.

7. I met my Auntie and Uncle's new dog and OMG she is so small and precious, I WANT ONE.

8. Finally, I'm getting back into the swing of my little online shop. I ordered my most popular print in a higher quality than I can print, and am so pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to design more and get them printed to sell too.

Monday, 5 February 2018

I'm working on stepping out of my comfort zone with my fashion choices this year. I love throwing on jeans, but everyday is getting a bit repetitive. So, I was on the lookout for another pair of bottoms/trousers that can be dressed up or down -like jeans-, but are a little more dressy.

I've been keeping an eye out for some black culottes for at least a year but never found *quite* the right fit. Until these beauties entered my life. Paper bag waist, perfect length and comfortable fabric. For this particular outfit I kept it simple with a T-shirt, my favourite biker jacket and popped on my newest Vans (another staple in my wardrobe)

I've had a wardrobe sort out and have been picking up a few new bits for my Spring wardrobe so look out for more outfits soon. I'm hoping to style up more outfits without a pair of Topshop Jamie jeans in sight. Although I have got my eye on a funky black pair, maybe I can make room for them in my wardrobe soon.

2017 - BEST BITS

In this post I'm throwing it back to 2017. It's like a diary, but unlike a diary, I try to remember everything from the year before at the end of the year. -Note to self- MUST start documenting each month as they go. Anyway, let's just jump straight to the point. Some months weren't particularly eventful hence why they aren't mentioned.

After having a break from college and work I jumped back into it and cracked on with deadlines and hand ins.

In February I visited Barcelona as part of my Graphic Design HNC year. It was beautiful, the sun was out (and slightly warmer than the UK weather) and I had a great few days exploring the city.

Nothing notable happened this month, apart from a slightly impromptu trip to London (the best kind of trip tbh.) and I shot a little outfit post in Somerset House! I'm still sad that they don't how LFW there anymore.

In May I shot one of my favourite blogposts ever. A BLUEBELL WOODS, and it was as wonderful as it sounds. Bluebells everywhere with some lovely grounds to walk around too. I need to do more of that this year!
I was also finalising my HNC work for submission at the end of this month, then after that was the big decision of whether to continue studying or enter the big wide world of employment!

After much very little deliberation I decided to not go onto the next year of the Graphic Design course. I feel as though I'd learnt enough to take all the skills forward into the design work I try to do now, and I wanted more time to work on my own design projects.

In July, my friend and I visited Brighton. It was just glorious. The weather held up for us for the three days we were there and it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of our college lives and us going into the adult world.

August rolled around and I turned 21! I can't believe I'm now properly in my 20's, it's kind of terrifying but also just so exciting because I'm a proper full blown adult now.
We were in Derbyshire on holiday when I turned 21. It was such a relaxed week where we did very little but hang out with our family who met us there (from Northern Ireland).
This month I also brought a shed. A shed to house my business and allow me to have my bedroom as my little peaceful sanctuary (it's still a tip though...). My Dad insulated and boarded the walls, I've got power in there and it MINE. My little creative room for painting, writing, designing and anything else that my heart desire. I LOVE IT
Firstly, the shed got completed and I started spending some of my evenings in there. I pop my little heater and my fairy lights on and I'm away!
Most importantly, after 9 months of driving lessons, I PASSED FIRST TIME. I was ecstatic. I got 4 minors (three for the same thing within the first couple of minutes of the test! I blame my nerves for them ones). I wasn't in a great rush to get a car but was on the lookout nonetheless.
In September I found what I thought would be the perfect temp Christmas job while I still helped my Mum with her shop too. It was design based but after my first day of sitting at a desk for 8 hours I simply couldn't hack it, so I quit after one day -lols-

October has a similar story to September. I found a car locally (after driving too far to view cars that looks great online but shite in real life) and purchased it soon after. It's not the MINI that I wanted but I needed to think about important factors and opted for a Clio as my first car.
Fun fact: I stalled my car ALL the time when I first got it and thought I was going to have to sell it. Turns out I just needed someone to coach me for half an hour due to the car being so different to drive. But I got there (thank goodness)

This is a contender for the best point of my year. I applied for a job at H&M in my local town and I got it! I knew I needed a part time job to pay to run a car and the job is just perfect. I'm so glad I waited a little while to find something that fitted just right for me and the job's going so well. It's really made me realise how much of an interest I have in fashion too.

In December I worked quite a bit of overtime, and worked most days between Christmas and New Years. I'm not complaining because I'm loving the money coming in, although I'm spending a good chunk of it on the clothes I see and fall in love with while I'm working (oops).
To Summarise...
So, I think you may agree that the second half of the year contained a lot of growing up. I made the decision to stop attending college, found myself a job that I adore and managed to pass my driving test AND get a car - and breathe! -. I didn't really progress with my shop after finishing college, I partly blame that on poor time management, the dark nights drawing in, but also the job I managed to get. I'm still getting used to it if I'm honest, but I'm enjoying every second of it.

I'm so excited to see what 2018 has in store for me. Hopefully it'll be growth personally, on my blog and on my little shop. I posted about my goals yesterday, but I forgot to mention the most important one. Make sure that everything you're doing brings you happiness, if it doesn't then move on to the next thing.

Hi, welcome to 2018! As I do every year, I'm looking back at my goals for 2017, reviewing them and setting some new goals for 2018. I'm aware this post is super late considering it's almost February already, however I didn't want to miss this post as I've done something similar to this every new year. Enjoy.

GET A TATTOO - So, this is one goal that I didn't accomplish in 2017 however I did get another two ear piercings so I'm sort of half way there. So a tattoo goal will have to carry on into this year!

TRAVEL & ADVENTURES - I travelled to Barcelona in February, visited Brighton with my best friend and went to Derbyshire with family. Although they don't sound particularly crazy, they were so lovely and  I definitely plan on visiting more places this year.

PASS MY DRIVING TEST & BUY A CAR - I DID IT! I passed my driving test first time AND brought a car too. A very basic car but a car none the less. It gets me from A to B so it will do me for now.

UNI WORK - I managed to complete all of my work in time for my final deadline of the year and then decided to not go back to college for another year.

In terms of the other goals that I'd set myself, I didn't reach any of the number goals I'd hope to for my social media, blog or small business but I'm still happy with what I managed to achieve this year. It's important to remember that setting goals is good, but it's not the be all and end all and it certainly doesn't change how successful your year was!

GET A TATTOO - I still desperately want a tattoo. But I'm still waiting for the perfect idea to come into my head, I think it'll happen this year.

CHANGE MY LOOK - I feel like I'm becoming confident in my clothing choices and am trying to come out of my comfort zone when it come to what I wear. With this I'd love to change my hair pretty drastically. I have ideas but no plans set in stone, but look out for it in due course!

GET A NEW CAR - As previously stated, I'm happy with my car but it's nowhere near being my ideal car. Hopefully this year I'll have at least saved some money to put towards a better car, if not have purchased one by 2019.

TRAVEL - Now that I've got my car there isn't anything stopping me travelling to places around England when the weather brightens up a bit, I'm so excited for some little Summer road trips!

MY SHOP - I run a little website called Shani Coles Designs. This year I want to focus on designing quality products and have them produced so they're ready for me to just ship out to my lovely customers.

ART/DESIGN - I'm also planning on doing some different creative things, for fun but also to sell on my website so keep an eye out in the next few months.

MY BLOG - Goal 1. ACTUALLY POST HERE. I was useless last year with posting on my blog, but I hope that now I've settled into my new job and I have means of transport that I'll be able to post at least one blog post a week most weeks.
Goal 2. I'd love to work with a fashion brand this year, since getting my job in fashion retail I've realised how much I enjoy fashion so it would be great to add more fashion content to my site.

So there it is. Certainly not a pretty post, but I wanted to pop this up before anything else in 2018 so I can find it easily next time I come to do this post! Next up is a little summary of 2017, more of a diary entry than a blogpost but hey, this is my online diary after all x
